These images were made in Badachro, Scotland. Before ever visiting the place myself, I perceived and visualized Badachro through the memories and narratives of my wife Sarah, who grew up there. As such, these photographs are not meant to describe Badachro; rather, they are a portrait of the person most dear to me, whose life continues to be influenced by that place.

 

The photographs were also made during a decade of transition. The earliest pictures in this series were taken in the weeks surrounding new year’s 1999-2000 (Y2K) and mark a significant transition into a larger family life as our first son was born later that year. Our second son was born four years later. The last several images represent their first visits to Badachro.
